Starry Night Clarksville

This mural is painted by @draftsbyolasubomi features the Montgomery County Courthouse and Customs House museum on a background similar to Van Gogh's Starry Night. It is located off Madison St. near Hiter St. in the parking lot for Dollar General.

This is one of seven small murals around the Nelson House Hotel a block north of the Columbia, TN town square. They have been painted by local mural artist Bonnie Callewaert. Three of them are visible in a parking lot next to the historic hotel and the other four are behind the building. Other than Aesthetics, I can't find any info on why or when on these.

Nashville Food mural

This mural is one of the latest from Michael Cooper from Murals & More, completed in April 2017. This is located at Nashville Cash & Carry Food, Party & Restaurant Supplies along Charlotte Pk. (US70) facing Richland Park.

Krey Hot Sausage - Memphis, TN

Here is a faded ghosted wall ad located in Memphis along G.E. Patterson St. near St. Martin St. About all that can be read is Country Style Hot Sausage with the Krey logo in the bottom right.

Located at the Brick Deli & Tavern, this Coke mural is painted atop a faded coke mural.

Oliver & Sinclair is located in East Nashville at S. 17th St. @ Fatherland St. I'm about 90% sure this is a modern mural made to look old, which includes the addition of a window.

Restored Coca-Cola Mural - Cookeville, TN

In 2015, a store owner in the Cream City Depot District in Cookeville was renovating the exterior of his building. When removing the stucco, they found a forgotten Coca-Cola mural. From there, they contacted Coca-Cola who has been restoring vintage ads throughout the region. On Sept. 4, 2015, the city unveiled the restored mural with the 'Silhouette girl.'

Faded Tobacco wall ad - Columbia, TN

This faded ad is seen along Main St. south of the Columbia town square. The top is for Columbia Grocery Co. The rest of the faded mural is for Tobacco.
Some of the words we can make out: "New Process" "Refined" "Best for Smokers"
Bottom right: "Tag on 5c bag tells how"
Someone else was able to identify this was an R.J. Reynolds advertisement.

Restored Purity wall ad - Smyrna, TN

For those of you who don't live near Nashville, Purity Dairies is the perhaps the most popular brand of milk and ice cream in the area. (Their ads also launched the career of Jim Varney as Ernest.)

It's on the side of a building in the small downtown area of Smyrna, TN. I think the building was the Regal Theater from 1910-1958. After that, it was the Theater Grill.

Columbia, TN Mural: Who is John Galt?

This is the iconic view from the Ayn Rand novel Atlas Shrugged. You never know what you will find in small towns.

recently uncovered Selz Shoe wall ad - Columbia, TN

NOTE: This photo is over two years old. I do not know if it is still available

This old painted wall advertisement for Selz Royal Blue shoes was recently uncovered in Columbia, TN. Advertised as "The Sole of Honor" the Selz shoe company in Chicago was in business from 1890 to 1929. This can be seen along Main St. in Columbia on the south side of the town square next door to Ted's. When a new building is built in this spot, it is unknown if the 90+ year old sign will be preserved. Go see it now to make sure you see it.

Nashville Walls Project - Lee Estes

Nashville Walls Project describes themselves as "bringing some of the worlds top Street and Graffiti Artists to Nashville for mural projects, exhibits and events."

In May 2017, Australian artist Guido Van Helten came to The Nations neighborhood in Nashville to paint this abandoned grain silo. This photo was taken on Memorial Day when the project was almost but not quite finished. If you look closely in the bottom left corner, you can see Guido on a lift.

The subject of the massive 160 foot tall painting is Lee Estes. Learn more about the 91-year old and lifelong resident of The Nations HERE or HERE. The mural wraps around the corner and depicts two children from St Luke’s Community House in the Nations.

There's Only One Cookeville mural

This August 2016 Mural is located in the Cream City Depot District on the other side of the building that has the 2015 restored Coca-Cola Mural. That business with there murals is owned by Cookeville Mayor Ricky Shelton who comments that there really is only one Cookeville. "Out of 19,354 incorporated cities across the U.S, there’s only one city named Cookeville and it’s right here in Putnam County." This mural even has a website which hopes to sell T-Shirts someday: theresonlyonecookeville.com/

Originally, In July 2016 the mural said "I Believe in Cookeville" but was deemed too similar to the I Believe in Nashville murals, and was changed to something unique.

Greetings from Smyrna Depot District

This 2019 mural is located on the side of a building across Front St. from the Smyrna train depot. The mural is signed by Suzanne Lebeau and sponsored by VisitRutherfordTN.

Mountain Dew: Born in Tennessee Mural - Destroyed by Tornado

For someone who loves Tennessee and Mountain Dew, this is a great mural. The mural features a billboard with the early slogan "It'll tickle your innards" and a painted barn with the Tennessee original. Other Tennessee sights depicted here are the Memphis Pyramid, Nashville Batbuilding and the Knoxville Sunsphere.

This mural is located in East Nashville near the Five Points area at the intersection of Woodland St. and 10th St., which used to be a Family Dollar.

Opryland Ballroom Mural: Jackson Statue & Capitol

In Opryland Hotel's original ballroom area, the walls are painted to depict scenes from Nashville around the time of Tennessee's Centennial, in the late 1800's. To view the entire set of 8, Click Here.

The Tennessee State Capitol was designed by William Strickland, who also designed the U.S. Capitol. The building was finished in 1859. The Andrew Jackson riding statue was completed soon thereafter, and an identical statue was placed in New Orleans and one in Washington D.C. near the capitol.

Railroad Mural - Paris, TN

This mural depicts an Orange and Yellow locomotive pulling a brown caboose which is chased by a couple of anthropomorphic dogs with their pizza and beer. If you'r wondering why there'd be pizza and beer in this mural, it must have been commissioned by a local pizza place. The name PAPA J (not Papa Johns) was painted on the train, and then painted over in a different shade of orange.

In Paris, the railroad went right down the middle of Fentress St. and is seen along the street in this picture. The 1896 NCStL depot is just down the street a couple of blocks.

Edgar Cayce - Quality Photographs

Edgar Cayce is a famous Clairvoyant from the early 20th century who grew up in Hopkinsville, KY. I suppose he must have run a photography business as well, but I didn't know that about him. This is located in downtown Hopkinsville, along a large brick wall where there are several retro murals.

I first learned of Cayce when I bought a 1950s biography of him when our school had its yearly book clearance sale.

Bradford, TN Doodle Soup mural

While this mural shows some of the things around the small town of Bradford, perhaps the most notable is the bowl that the standing lady is holding. Bradford is known as the Doodle Soup Capital of the World. This video will explain Doodle Soup: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJ1InpT0c-s
The mural is visible from highway TN105 in the middle of town.

Linden Arts & Historic District

"Perry County Pride" is a 2009 mural by local award-winning artist Sonny Davis facing the courthouse near Linden's town square. At this spot was a long lasting advertising mural for Quasar televisions painted in the early 70's but eventually became too faded. The mural was commissioned by Vision Perry who has now added other art in and around the square.

Scenes from this mural include a boy and his fishing pole, a water fall, a double-stack kiln and a Perry County flag.
