Hibernating Bat

Illuminated only by the light from the tour guide, this young bat will be here all winter. This was seen on our tour of the Raccoon Mountain Cavern in Chattanooga, TN.

Happy Friday the 13th! Mothman

You don't really thing about running into an axe-wielding maniac in January, but it's still Friday the 13th, and there's probably some tv network running a marathon.

This isn't exactly Jason, but if you ran into it in the woods, it would still scare you. This is made from a carved tree, except for the wings which have been fastened onto the rest. Of all places to show up, this is at a nice mom-and-pop motel in a rural area just west of Chattanooga.

A sign that is falling apart on a barn that is falling apart. The sign has to be at least over 30 years old because Raccoon Mountain Caverns hasn't gone by that name in that long. Around the corner is a sign for Rock City (picture available Here). This is on highway U.S. 11 (Birmingham Highway) just south of Trenton, Ga

Driving around Raccoon Mountain

This...Whatever this is...can be seen while driving through the Raccoon Mountain TVA area. The Tennessee River is in the background. Driving up this road will eventually take us to the observation point which gives a good view of Lookout Mountain and Chattanooga Below. This street also takes us to the Raccoon Mountain reservoir which is part of the TVA power system. However its just odd to see this machinery on the side of the road in an otherwise scenic setting.
