Barbaro Memorial - Churchill Downs Museum

Barbaro won the 2006 Kentucky Derby by 6 1/2 lengths but then shattered at the Preakness. His struggle was the focus of national attention.

This bronze statue of Barbara and jockey Edgar Prado by local artist Alexa King was dedicated in 2009 in front of the Churchill Downs Museum. Barbaro's ashes are interred beneath the memorial.

What makes this statue unusual is the way Barbaro appears to be midair with all four feet off the ground. The 1500 pound sculpture is attached to the horizontal bronze rail.

Lincoln Co. Fair Harness Racing

The Lincoln County Fair is the only event in Tennessee where you can see harness racing. If you've never seen harness racing before, the big difference between this and the more common thoroughbred racing is the horse is harnessed to a two-wheeled cart (or sulky) carrying the driver. This event is under the oversight of the U.S. Trotting Association.

Viola Valley Town Hall

Viola is a tiny incorporated town in Warren County, south of McMinnville along TN highways 108/127. Sometimes, the area is known as Viola Valley.

Tennessee State Fair: Types of animals on display

There are several different types of animals you can see at the Tennessee State Fair, or most any county fair. Still, it depends on what time you go, as different animals are judged on different days. Also, this doesn't include the petting zoo, which also has a diverse selection.

Lincoln Co. Fair Harness Racing

The Lincoln County Fair in Fayetteville, TN started over the weekend and will continue through Saturday. In addition to the typical things to be found at a county fair, the most notable aspect of this fair is it is the only event in Tennessee where you can see harness racing.
