Center Point Pit Barbecue - Hendersonville, TN

Center Point Pit Barbecue

Motto: Home of the three little pigs

Hendersonville, TN on US 31E

This excerpt was taken from the TN Trails and Byways Ring of Fire Trail, stop #100:
"This local landmark often welcomed Johnny Cash for a plate of BBQ and over the years numerous country artists and musicians have feasted at this unassuming spot. Taste for yourself, and spot your favorite star in the autographed pictures that decorate the walls."

Tennessee State Fair: Types of animals on display

There are several different types of animals you can see at the Tennessee State Fair, or most any county fair. Still, it depends on what time you go, as different animals are judged on different days. Also, this doesn't include the petting zoo, which also has a diverse selection.

Things to see at the Fair: Swine

100 Things to see at the fair #13: Swine Barn

You can stroll the aisles and see all kinds of pigs and hogs, like this female. If you show up at the right time, you might see a pig owner trying to wash their pig in the pig shower, which involves the owner usually getting really wet.

One caveat, Compared to many of the other show animals, the swine are not treated like pets! Pigs can be stubborn and have to be strongly coerced to move sometimes, which might be upsetting to children (or sensitive wives, like mine) if you go during the judging.

Rebel Truck Stop Neon Sign - Mt. Pleasant, TN

Rebel Truck Stop

The owners of this sign and the truck stop where it's located have fallen victim to highway US43 being routed out of Mt. Pleasant, TN. US43 is the road from Columbia to Lawrenceburg and several years ago a modern two-lane divided highway replaced the older historic route which followed "Jacksons Military Road" into Mt. Pleasant. Today, Tennessee state highway 243 follows this route.

Also, how often do you see a tap dancing pig?

Barnum's Barnyard - Happy April Fools Day

Barnum's Barnyard

This is one of the signs advertising the "Barnum's Barnyard" freak show in the midway of the 2007 TN State Fair. I love these signs.

Double Body Pig
Amazing chicken with 2 Heads & 4 Legs
Two Face Cat
Iggy & Ziggy the 2 Headed Piggy
Cow wuth 2 Faces & 5 Legs
ALIVE!

And why did I post this for April Fools Day? First, I couldn't think of anything better. Also, The two-headed pig won't really be wearing a tuxedo!
