Stay on TN58 and see Beautiful Rock City

In Tennessee, State highway TN58 passes through Kingston and Decatur before reaching Chattanooga on the east side of the Tennessee River. Once in Chattanooga, TN58 zig-zags all around the city and is actually quite tough to stay on. Once you make it to St. Elmo, TN58 ascends Lookout Mountain via the Ochs highway and you're practically at Rock City.

This barn is located just inside the Hamilton County line, just a few miles north of Harrison.

I have drawn from many resources such as books and web sites and sometimes luck, but there's not really one "go to" place to find them all. This is a few miles north of Chattanooga on highway TN58 inside the Hamilton County line. not far from Georgetown, TN

Update: It appears the part of the barn with the word ROCK has been replaced with new wood since this photo was taken.

Things that are now gone: Old Ruby Falls / Jefferson Island Salt Barn

This barn along highway TN 58 in Roane County has two advertisements, one for Ruby Falls and the other for Jefferson Island Salt. This might be the best preserved Jefferson Island Salt, as they were only painted in the 50's and not many remain.

Fleetwood Coffee + Butternut Coffee barn - Meigs County, TN

This barn is along highway TN58 in Meigs County between the Hiawassee River and Decatur, visible to northbound traffic. The other side is a Ruby Falls barn. It took me a while to figure out what was written here with the help of some readers. The right half was for ButterNut Coffee. The other side is for Fleetwood Coffee. I have since seen other Fleetwood Coffee barns in Tennessee, such as along TN61 between Oliver Springs and Oak Ridge and US411 south of Benton.

This is a Rock City Barn, but the area that was painted to say ROCK CITY has been removed. I suppose that would look strange if you didn't know what the barn was referring to. This is the perfect place to paint an ad on the side of a barn, since the street bends around the barn. TN58 does continue on to Chattanooga, and then up the side of lookout mountain to go to Rock City. I think there is a Christmas light on top of the 5. I like how the TN58 road sign has been painted onto this barn.
