Post Card Tuesday - WSM Hall of Heroes

Souvenir, Texas-Tennessee Hall of Heroes.
Miss Christine Lamb, pictured with the Solemn Ole Judge of WSM, Nashville's 50,000 watt Station - Air Castle of the South.

Back in the days when the earliest radio stations were owned by large companies, Nashville's Blowtorch, WSM 650, was owned by the the National Life & Accident Insurance Company. WSM was chosen as their letters since the company motto was We Shield Millions. Solemn Ole Judge was the stations most famous radio personality, and that was the stage name of George D. Hay. WSM and Mr. Hay started the ever popular Grand Ole Opry radio program, which thrives still today on WSM 650
