The Sinks, A Waterfall in the Smokies
The Sinks is a popular roadside waterfall in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. There is a small parking lot and entrance along the Little River Road which was completed since I was there.
While I suppose this is a waterfall, it is better thought of as large rapids. The Sinks gets its name because of the deep plunge pool underneath the base of the falls.
Southern folklore says a logging train once derailed falling into the deep water here - so deep that the train disappeared and was never found.
