Located on Charlotte's town square, this house of the local merchant was built ca. 1830. This house was built that year, probably because a devistating tornado destroyed almost all buildings in town earlier that year. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the Charlotte Courthouse Square Historic District.
