Bartlett, TN Veterans Park

The Bartlett, TN Veterans Memorial is located at W.J. Freeman Park. The memorial includes plaques with the text of the proclamation of two Bartlett citizens who were given the U.S. Medal of Honor by the President, Sgt. Walter K. Singleton in 1970 and Sgt. Vernon McGarity in 1952.

Tiptonville Veterans Park

Located in Tiptonville across the street from the Lake County Courthouse.

Shelbyville's Veterans Memorial statue - Happy Veterans Day!

Located at the Bedford County Courthouse in Shelbyville, TN. This statue was dedicated on Mar. 11, 2006 and was sculpted by Russ Faxon of Bell Buckle, TN. There are 1,111 bricks honoring donors of the project. There are 4 benches, one at each corner, to represent the 4 continents that the Veterans have fought in.

In honor of Veterans Day, I'd like to show off several Veterans Day memorials I've found in and around the area.


Veteran's Memorial - Bristol, VA

The Veteran's War Memorial is located at Cumberland Square Park. The memorial contains five 6'2" bronze statues representing the men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines. The statues are arranged on a platform in the shape of a V for Victory. The helicopter in the background is an AH-1H COBRA

I suppose I should have posted this yesterday on the actual date of the day of remembrance, but today is the federal holiday and many people have the day off, so I am posting it today. We are going to look at some of the ways that Veterans are memorialized around the state.

First here is a statue on the grounds of the Stewart County Courthouse in Dover.

Finally, this is the memorial in Rockwood, which is located at a prominent intersection of US27 and US70.
