Putnam County's third courthouse was built in 1900 at a cost of $30,000. The three story brick building has octagonal projecting corner pavilions at the front.
The courthouse had an extensive remodel in 1962. (
Here is a photo before the remodel.) Most notably, a clock tower in the northwest corner was removed, as well as steep roof and Flemish gable wall dormers. In addition to the flatter roof, a porch with four columns was added to three sides, plus an addition to the rear. "In God we trust" was added in 2012.
